Professional Goal: 2018-2019
My professional goal will be to implement visible learning techniques and reading strategies that will guide my GG1 students to a year’s worth of growth in Literacy. These students will create their own personal learning goals, meet and share with me about their goal progress and make create new goals as they old ones are mastered.
Student Academic Goal 2018-2019
My goal this year will be to focus on my GG1 students in literacy. I will focus on letter name, letter sounds, building concept of word, and reading books pre-readiness through PrePrimer B. I will know my students are successful based on the growth I will see in the middle and end of year PALs reading assessments, as well as informal ongoing assessments such as the PALs quick checks and running records. By years end, I expect to see 1 years growth with these students.
Personal Growth Goal
2016-2017
This year I will lead my first grade team in a Kindness Initiative. Our kindness activities will reach out to the students, faculty and staff at Crozet Elementary. We will reach out to the community, as well as our animal friends. I hope that our first graders become mindful of kindness towards all living things.
Goal Reflection
This years Kindness Initiative was a success. In reflection with the students, the children were able to recall all of the different activities we did this year. They also were able to explain why these acts of kindness were so important to themselves and to others. "It made me feel very happy." "I think we made other people smile!" "I liked when we gave out hugs!" With each activity the children felt more and more confident and were able to pass kindness on to others they didn't already know. Many parents commented about the Kindness Activities and were happy to hear their child report what was happening!
This is a definite MUST DO again next year! I will make some adjustments to the schedule of activities and continue to add more to the list. I love that it became a grade level initiative and that others around the school also caught on!! That was the purpose!!
2014-2015
This year I will focus on my connection with families. I believe positive, comfortable relations will lead to a more trusting home-school connection/relationship.
Student Academic Goal:
2016-2017
90% of my class will score a 3 or 4 on the end of the year writing prompt using the county rubric.
Goal Reflection
80% of my students scored a 3 or 4 on the end of the year writing prompt! 98% of that same 80% increased their scores since the beginning of the year. With only one student meeting and maitaining the end of the benchmark all year. Out of the 20% that did not make it, one student missed scoring a 3 by 1 point(GG1 Child), one student will be up for SPED evaluation as soon as we return in the fall(GG1 child). At mid-year we increased writing as part of our reading reflections. We also wrote our own math stories. The students continued using their homework writing journal and often were very excited about the different prompts! In Feb. I did have one parent ask that her child not do the writing homework. There were issues at home. I allowed that child a pass on the homework, and even still, she met the benchmark. This goal was a good indicator of the students writing progress. The children seemed to gain confidence and independence as the year progressed. Several of my students would pull out their writing journals when they had free time, choosing writing over reading or computer time!
2014-2015
Students will develop different strategies to prove that a given number sentence is correct.
