September 2015- 90% of my class will score a 3 or 4 on the end of the year writing prompt using the county rubric.
May 2016- 73% of my students scored a 3 or 4 on the end of the year writing prompt. 2 of the 5 that did not make the goal are now SPED students and will receive writing support next year.
However, 84% of my class increased their scores since the beginning of the school year.
Score break down: 15% scored a 1
12% scored a 2
31% scored a 3
42% scored a 4
Overall I think my writing goal was successful. Using Being a Writer strategies and prompts as well as a writing journal with very diverse prompts excited the children about writing. This is the first year in many that I did not hear the students grown when it came to writing time! I would like to use this goal again next year!
